Curriculum Outline: The DDP Framework

Environmental Systems and Earth Science
Unit 1, 20 GLH: systems, cycles, interdependence, mapping, evidence capture
Learners build a foundation in atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, biosphere, water cycles, carbon cycles, nutrient cycles, energy flows, feedback loops, thresholds, and interdependence. Systems are taught as visible patterns that can be mapped, modelled, and explained.

Learners explore climate change through evidence, fairness, communication, and careful handling of eco-anxiety and misinformation. The unit connects fossil fuels, emissions, land use, food security, health, justice, and practical mitigation choices.
- Using credibility checklists to evaluate climate information, media claims, graphs, and source reliability.
- Creating audience-appropriate digital explainers using careful language and Level 2 command verbs.
2. Environmental Literacy Assessment Matrix: Portfolio to DDP Methods
Realigning portfolio assessment to evidence knowledge, digital fluency, eco-resilience, and practical green skills.
Digital Fluency
Traditional Barrier: Learners may collect screenshots, graphs, or web sources without showing source reliability, interpretation, or audience-appropriate output.
Students use source checklists, captions, charts, data visuals, digital explainers, and annotated outputs to make their evidence clear and authentic.
Eco-Resilience
Traditional Barrier: Environmental learning can trigger anxiety, helplessness, guilt, or shutdown if learners are not supported to move towards realistic action.
Learners identify what changed, what helped, what was challenging, and which next steps are realistic, replacing catastrophic framing with supported action.
