DDP Diverse Resource Bank: Citizenship Studies (AQA 8100)
Department rule: where a case study, campaigner, organisation, example, image or text is the teacher's choice, it is drawn from this bank so that Black, female and neurodivergent voices are the norm across the course, not an exception. Check that organisations, helplines and legal references are current each term.
Identity, migration and the media
Windrush: the 2018 scandal through Amelia Gentleman's reporting and Paulette Wilson's case; Claudia Jones and the founding of Notting Hill Carnival; the 1987 election of Diane Abbott, Bernie Grant, Paul Boateng and Keith Vaz. The Stephen Lawrence campaign led by Doreen Lawrence and the Macpherson Report as the anchor case for institutional change; the 1995 Disability Discrimination Act won by Direct Action Network protesters including Barbara Lisicki; Lady Hale as first female President of the Supreme Court and Baroness Scotland as first Black woman Attorney General. Campaign models for the citizenship action
Show Racism the Red Card, Everyone's Invited (Soma Sara), Mikaela Loach's climate justice work, Citizens UK community organising, Chris Packham's Wild Justice as a legal-route campaign by an autistic public figure. Learners study a campaign's aim, method, allies and measurable outcome before designing their own, so the action has a template.

Malala Yousafzai at the UN; Greta Thunberg on autism as an asset in advocacy; Vanessa Nakate on who is cropped out of climate coverage; Nelson Mandela and the anti-apartheid boycott for the UK's role in international pressure; the Commonwealth taught through Caribbean and West African members' perspectives, not only the UK's.
Writing the practice material
Where scenarios, mock articles and sieve presets are written, the people in them carry a range of names, backgrounds and family structures, and at least one scenario per block features a disabled or neurodivergent citizen exercising a right. Statistics used in the QL sifter are drawn from the ONS, the Electoral Commission and the Ministry of Justice with the source named.
